The Witcher 3 PS5 story is the same 2015 RPG, twice over. PlayStation 5 got a next-gen update in December 2022. It is also on the list for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered on September 29, 2026. Other platforms are on the Witcher 3 Remastered hub. The notes below stay on Sony’s machine.

Nothing in those pages describes a PS5-only story or a console-exclusive questline. PlayStation 5 is a place to play the same adventure.
The 2022 download
CD PROJEKT RED Support told players to grab a dedicated next-gen version from the PlayStation Store or their library.
GOTY owners who had bought the Game of the Year edition for PlayStation 4 were told to pick The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition and complete a purchase that should cost $0. People who only owned the base game could take the next-gen update on that base game. They did not get Complete Edition for free.
Remember the year on that article. It explains 2022. CDPR has not republished those GOTY versus base-game steps for Remastered.
Remastered in 2026
The new announcement names PlayStation 5 in the same free-upgrade line as PC and Xbox Series X|S. If you already own The Witcher 3 there, you are in that group.
A few things the press release simply does not say: a unique PS5 Remastered SKU name, whether a 2022 Complete Edition copy auto-updates, or whether a PS4 disc collection needs a separate download. Near September 29, the PlayStation Store listing will be more useful than guessing from 2022 Support text.

Switch 2, Battle.net, and Xbox
PS5 is not Switch 2 and not Battle.net. Switch 2 is a native Remastered version. Battle.net is a new PC storefront. Xbox Series X|S is the other console in the same qualifying sentence as PlayStation 5.
Songs of the Past is listed for PS5 in 2027. It is paid, and it is not part of the September remaster.
